2011-05-02 07:21:00 | The old one has died. It had a core 2 duo t8100, I think. Will an I3 be an OK replacement or should I look for an I5? I do a little bit of video editing, but its mostly used for browsing and office. | wotz (335) | |

2011-05-03 00:42:00 | Depends on your budget really. Obviously an i5 will perform better, but if it's worth the extra $$ is really up to you. You can get yourself a really nice i3 these days, and a solid all around laptop, for well under $1000: pbtech.co.nz

2011-05-03 05:30:00 | I ran one up for a lady a few days ago, I don't think they are bad value, as they are dirt cheap, but the worst thing about it was the touch pad! I just couldn't stand it. It felt like they had sort of tried to copy the touch pad off a 3 year old macbook, but failed in every way. It was horrible!! pbtech.co.nz

2011-05-03 06:06:00 | what is your budget and do you want one with notably decent durability or standard? (not everyone NEEDS a notebook that can survive knocks etc). Compaq/HP Presario and acer are generally the cheapest with worst build quality Lenovo Thinkpad, Toshiba, HP Probook/elitebook and macbook generally have the best build quality and highest price, everything else is in between (eg Pavilion etc).

That and the lid, it can be a bit tough to pry it apart, it needs a little bit of a lip, like the Macbooks have... Other than that, I use mine heaps, its brilliant! |
