1198847 2011-05-02 07:02:00 Hi,
Im currently a student still at college and am wanting to build a low cost pc to just browse the net and play some music and movies off. I have a $200 budget.
Is anyone able to recommend some CPU, RAM, motherboard bundles that fit within my price range???

Thanks

1198848 2011-05-02 07:24:00 You wont get a CPU / ram / mobo / case / PSU / hdd for $200. Unless its 2nd hand Speedy Gonzales (78)
1198849 2011-05-02 07:30:00 Just to clarify I have a HDD, case, PSU already. Sorry bout the confusion. So I just need a CPU, some RAM and a motherboard quark (15122)
1198850 2011-05-02 07:43:00 Maybe something like a Mini ITX with onboard CPU Example from ascent (www.ascent.co.nz) then throw in some ram -- Just dont expect much performance.

In that link, if you click on the heading Motherboards Onboard CPU there are others as well.

1198851 2011-05-02 08:27:00 I presume the PSU & case are ATX and the HDD is SATA? inphinity (7274)
1198852 2011-05-02 08:47:00 At that budget, why don't you just get a second hand computer? bk T (215)
1198853 2011-05-02 09:07:00 AMD 255 @ $98 www.computerlounge.co.nz
ASRock N68 @ $85 www.elive.co.nz
Kingston 1GB DDR3 @ 19.60 pricespy.co.nz

Total: $203-ish

Asrock is crap.
Better to go onto GPforums sell forum and get something decent quality second hand.

+1

It's better to get a quality second hand PC rather than paying new prices for some junk stuff.

Make any sense?

1198856 2011-05-03 05:08:00 Where is the OS in that budget?

You could get an ex-lease with legit XP for under $50, then you've got $150 left to enjoy!
