1198521 2011-04-30 06:21:00 Help! I have just installed a wireless range booster which appeared to install with no issues. But now my comp cant find the internet and I get this message.
I have disconnected to booster and am just trying to get it to go back to its old network, but thats not working now.
The modem works fine, there are 2 comps wirelessly connected and working right now. The laptop just wont.
How do I configure IP?

1198522 2011-04-30 06:32:00 Go into its properties and give it an IP I guess? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1198523 2011-04-30 06:37:00 Yes but what? I phoned Maxnet and they said it wasnt their problem, how can I find out what the IP configuration should be? EFFIGY (12530)
1198524 2011-04-30 06:40:00 Would they be the same as those on the comp that IS connected? If so I can just copy them. EFFIGY (12530)
1198525 2011-04-30 06:47:00 If you're using a wireless router, you'll have to

1. Find out what the ip is to login to it

2. The valid ip range of the router - This is what we need, it maybe 192.168.1.2, (the start ip address) , but you need to know the end ip address. Once you find out, you cant put any ip in (within that valid range). Just as long as the adapters you've got DON'T have the same ip address. Otherwise they'll conflict

1198526 2011-04-30 07:00:00 OK the Router primary address is 192.168.1.1 EFFIGY (12530)
1198527 2011-04-30 07:14:00 Ok and whats the valid ip range of the router? It may tell you if you login to the router Speedy Gonzales (78)
1198528 2011-04-30 07:20:00 I'm picking thats 'end IP' ??
If so that is192.168.1.254

1198529 2011-04-30 07:25:00 Ok soon find out put an ip address in that wireless adapter between 192.168.
1.2 and 192.168.1.254.

For the gateway put in 192.168.1.1 (the router). For DNS server ip addresses, your ISP server ip addresses

1198530 2011-04-30 07:38:00 Let me try to explain this carefully.
To begin with after this problem started I deleted the old network connection and made a new one. I got a message saying connection was taking longer than usual. The it connected, but in the 'Network and Sharing' center screen it shows the laptop connected to an Unidentified network and not at all to the internet. then lists the following...
Access Limited connectivity
Connection; Wireless Network Connection (NetComm Wireless), Signal strength excellent.
In 'View Status' it shows
IPv4 Connectivity Limited
IPv6 Connectivity Limited

In the 'Details' screen it shows
