1199300 2011-05-30 08:12:00 slow upload speeds like that can be caused by using ADSL filters when you have a splitter installed. Ordy (16359)
1199301 2011-05-30 09:15:00 We are with Orcon in Wanganui. We have recently changed from ADSL 1 to ADSL2. We have noticed an increase in speed.
However.
That in itself is not enough. Getting to a site quickly is good. But waiting to connect (handshake?) can sometimes seem forever. PJ

On further investergation that's what I've got.
The bottom left hand corner of Firefox does an a
lot of "waiting for ........".
Line speed up and down with speedtest.net has come right.
I am also with Orcon.

Cheers

Hi Ordy, welcome to PressF1!

While you're right, in this case because they're syncing at approx 1m/bit, I'd be more inclined to suggest either exchange congestion (Not so likely in this instance) or their ISPs got issues.

1199304 2011-05-30 22:19:00 You say it's come right so that's good, the fastest of the 3 tests you originally posted was actually right around what I'd expect so to me it seems like a congestion issue.

You sure no one else was using your connection and no updates etc were going on in the background?

1199305 2011-05-31 04:18:00 Can't see anything wrong with your connection there, it looks good to me!

I see all your Speedtest results are on different servers - and the Wellington one (being the highest) looks like the most accurate one. Not all servers will give the same results. It's better to do real world testing than rely on Speedtest 100%

Also, the numbers in your router's status page will never be the same as your actual speed. (always slightly higher)

If you want a (small) speed increase, get interleaving turned off.
