1164007 2010-12-23 06:39:00 I think i misunderstood the question, i thought you wanted to know what we had planned food wise for xmas day.

we are not big breaky eaters here, if its the weekend we make breaky's but usually its just coffee and cornflakes on the run to work.

lunches are usually sammies, cold meat, salards etc.

dinner, we eat quite a bit of rice, some pasta, very rarely spuds, but we do like hash browns, hot chips, or mashed, but more often than nit rice or pasta is our main, we have quite a few quick one pot dishes, with rice, rissotos, and stirfry, tonight we had butter chicken. we like home made pizza's, spag bol, and i do mince lots of ways now. we sometimes make hotdogs, or sausage in bread, or panini toasted to make cafe style yummys with a range of ingrediants in them.

sometimes we will buy a ready cooked hot chicken and breadrolls, have salard or coleslaw, and there tea.

oh and the kids eat lots of ice cream, and have milo or hot chocolates.
oh and one other thing we buy nearly weekly is liquorice........red, or choc filled, doesnt last in our house. and then chocolate comes 2nd. :)
we always have fruit of some sort in out house, and quite often home baking.
we dont eat a lot of red meat either, mostly chicken, fish, with mince and meat patties of different makes, lamb, chicken, or beef, and we make home style burgers, or chop them up for a rice risotto.

1164008 2010-12-23 18:52:00 I know a young married couple that really do not know how to cook (or perhaps too lazy?). Every meal is a take-out of sorts. I've asked them what they will have for Christmas lunch - "a special treat, double order McD's". Geez, I wonder how they survive and how high the food bill must be. Pretty sure they will be rolling around in 5 year's time.

1164009 2010-12-23 19:20:00 Cheers. :D

I rather save my money and travel and do my hobbies instead.

I've also known workmates who goes to pub and just seat pub food on many (work) nights.

While on McD's, I known a person at primary school who used to microwave Hamburger or was it Cheeseburger each morning :p He buys a bag of them each week :D

Got a cousin coming over from Sydney for Christmas. He eats out everynight and I just start giggling :p That's what his mother said here. He works in a bank in Chinatown.

Our folks are not into the really meaty stuff either, nor the heavy desserts. We're eating outside for Christmas at a relative's place. I might just make a creme brulee, don't have the stuff for a Pancotta. At least that is similar to Chinese egg tarts, lol. I think a cake suits them more than things like Choc Fondant and I doubt they into jelly's.

1164010 2010-12-24 05:45:00 Tons of veges in season in winter, .

We have gardened for 32 years and I don't what is a "winter" vege .
You can get away with it more so up in Auckland but most crops like: brussel sprouts, broccoli, chinese cabbage, carrots, turnips, swede, spinach, swiss chard, and kale .

Aren't winter, they are Autumn veges .
So you want to really be seasonal?
