1198739 2011-05-02 07:14:00 I think what you need to do is:

"Extend" E by 4.88 GB
"Shrink" E by however many extra GB (e.g. 10 GB) you want on C
"Extend" C by that same size (e.g. 10 GB) to fill the newly created gap.

Have fun!

Does not work.
E has been shrunk by 4.88GB
It's now seen as "unallocated"
If I right click C - extend is greyed out.

1198741 2011-05-02 08:55:00 Yeah, you can't extend C into the free space on the other side of E. The free space has to be adjacent to the partition you are extending. fred_fish (15241)
1198742 2011-05-02 09:22:00 Does not work.

Did you follow my first line - "Extend" E by 4.88 GB
What happened?

1198743 2011-05-02 10:08:00 To make it VERY EASY download FREE EASEUS Partition Master 8.0.1 Home Edition (www.partition-tool.com) 8.5MB.

Simply mouse drag the GUI to your required partition sizes and positions - simple and tested working 100% here on many occasions.

When I extend E - the unalloc section dissapears and E takes that up.
Then as you say - shrink it to whatever I want - the unalloc section comes back.
Then extend C - that option is greyed out.

I'll look at some software, currently C is having just over 1GB of free space.

possibly a valid point. if you dont have much on E:, copy it off to something, delete that partition, than extend C: and recreate a partition for E: from what ever space is left.

Not as an option. As some of my profile folders are on E.
Delete option is greyed out.
