1198555 2011-05-02 00:19:00 Ok it looks like DiRT is working as I can actually do races now.
Codemasters replied with a method to get them working properly since I'm using a i7 CPU which is 8 core, and that enabled DiRT to work, but it hasn't seemed to change anything with GRID.
Neither of these games is planned to be Win 7 compatible so the only choice it seems for GRID is to try and run it in compatible mode of Vista or XP.

For those that are interested I had to get rid of the workermap8core.xml, and copy the 4 core one and then rename it to the 8core one.

Thanks for everyones help, it's been really helpful.

1198557 2011-05-02 05:06:00 Is anyone here running grid on w7? Just out of interest. icow (15313)
1198558 2011-05-02 20:37:00 I'll try GRID on one card more probably on the weekend when I have more time then I do now .... exams and all that :|
But I did try a short trail without crossfire and it seemed fine, then again it is fine at times with CrossFireX
Yeah I'm running GRID on Win 7 64bit

1198559 2011-05-03 06:18:00 I should rephrase that. Running Grid so it works on W7. I was thinking of buying it but lack of w7 support from other oldish codemasters games made me think twice. icow (15313)
1198560 2011-05-03 07:08:00 I've got GRID working on my Win 7 64bit, albeit not working perfectly it is working.
You can always run games in windows compatible mode, I haven't tried that quite yet but I'm sure it'll work, regardless Win 7 and Vista are quite similar despite what Microsoft say.

You should be able to have the games running although, I personally recommend patching them first, I've found that helped quite a bit.

GRIDs a really good game as far as I've played it, would be a shame not to get it just because of the chance that it won't work, but if its patched and you're not running an 8 core it should work, also if you use steam I think going that way is more stable although don't take my word for it.

1198561 2011-05-03 08:45:00 Yep Grid works fine (both steam and dvd version) on windows 7 64. Also remember the hassles of dirt not liking the i7 when I first upgraded. Not sure why they havent patched that yet. Would take like 2mins lol

Grid is one of my all time fav race games, and its very stable now.
