1198531 2011-04-30 07:45:00 Its probably this, if this is what it says now

Autoconfiguration IPv4; 192.254.203.161

Thats not a valid ip for the router

Change it to use the following ip address. And change the ip address

1198532 2011-04-30 08:04:00 I have put in the IPv4 as you instructed and used the information here...
www.maxnet.co.nz
for the rest.
whats with IPv6?
EFFIGY (12530)
1198533 2011-04-30 08:09:00 Dont worry about IPv6 Maxnet or most ISP's dont support it. And unless your modem supports it, you probably cant use it

This is what you need for the DNS server ips

123.100.67.135
123.100.67.136

Sorry that just doesn't make any sense

1198535 2011-04-30 08:18:00 Well like you said the valid ip range ends with 192.168.1.254

Is this ip (192.254.203.161 - where it says auto config) within that range? (192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254) No.

Change it to an ip between 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.154 <- you put this in after you select use the following ip address, where it says ip adddress

The DNS server ips have NOTHING to do with your LAN ips. The DNS server ips are so the computer will get on the internet

1198536 2011-04-30 08:26:00 Sorry you are being very patient... I have been at this for hours... EFFIGY (12530)
1198537 2011-04-30 08:28:00 Change it to use the following ip address type in 192.168.1.2 (make sure other networked computers dont have the same ip address, you'll get an ip conflict), press tab, (it should add the subnet) for the gateway type in the router's ip 192.168.1.1.

For the primary DNS: 123.100.67.135
For secondary DNS: 123.100.67.136

Then OK. Then see if it gets on the net. Once wireless is configured. If there are any firewalls (besides windows) you'll have to configure it

1198538 2011-04-30 08:37:00 Connection Unsuccessful
This computer is connected to NetComm Wireless but does not have access to the internet.
This might be caused by an incorrect WEP key or low signal strength (Its definitely
not signal strength)
I clicked 'diagnose the problem' ....
And we are back to being asked to change the adapter settings :\
EFFIGY (12530)
1198539 2011-04-30 08:39:00 Is wireless enabled in the router? Whats it on? WEP/WPA? And whats the adapter on? And what version of windows is on it? If XP is SP3 on it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1198540 2011-04-30 08:56:00 Theres nothing wrong with the router... I'm talking to you on it.
The laptop is running Vista Home Premium SP2 Its finding the router but cant identify it. I think.
If I did a system restore... would that fix it?
