1164771 2010-12-26 00:17:00 There have been some stunning metal albums released this year, Albums that rank alongside the greatest works of any decade.

Care to name a few?
I haven't heard anything new that I like as much as the classics, although its pretty likely that I have missed heaps of good music so far!

They all sound the same, so how do you know?

My favorites were

Overkill-Ironbound (One of the best albums I have ever heard)
Heathen-Evolution of Chaos
Accept - Blood of the Nation
Grave Digger-The Clans will rise again
Iron maiden-The Final frontier

Danzig, Halloween, Blind Guardian, BLS, Halford all released albums that were well received.

Metal is the most diverse genre of music, If your ears aren't capable of differentiating between the massive sonic differences it probably explains why you prefer that miserable monotone you love so much.

1164776 2010-12-26 09:33:00 No doubt a lot of people will have different favourite bands from the 1960's but my earliest memories of music were listening to The Kinks.

I just watched the BBC documentary "Ray Davies - Imaginary Man" www.bbc.co.uk . The programme is mainly an interview with Ray with video outakes from the era.

Reckon that was a wonderful way to spend seventy five minutes, the songs were great and it certainly is a trip down memory lane. Didn't realise they got banned from the States at their peak.

Would certainly recommend the programme to music lovers - and Metla might even develop an appreciation for good music if he watched it.

Iron Maiden - The Final Frontieer

Dark Tranquility - We Are the Void

Masterplan - Time to be King

Virgin Steel's new album is probably the biggest disappointment of the year for me.
