| 1163520 | 2010-12-20 06:11:00 | Just checked the One I mentioned, it has DC Output: +5.0V 2A written on it, its from a D- link router. (New) Just checked the router and its gone to the big graveyard in the sky (well has now :D ) I'll post back a picture along with the Plug dimensions when I get back from the job I have to go do. |

Cheers wainuitech, I would be rather interested in it assuming its the correct plug. I'll PM with other info.. |

| 1163522 | 2010-12-20 08:29:00 | The D- Link has a plug dia of 5.5mm Outside, hole 2mm. The adapter Spec's printed (www.imagef1.net.nz(Large).JPG) -- damn hard to focus  Whole thing (www.imagef1.net.nz(Large).JPG). PM answered if its any good to ya. |

If it was designed for more than 5v I wouldn't worry so much, as it would probably be getting internally regulated to 5v anyway to power the ICs. However as it runs on 5v I would expect there are ICs in there running directly from the 5v, and they may not be as tolerant. 5v logic went the way of the dodo, all the ICs in there will be 3.3v, most likely with a DC-DC converter. The only use I can think of for 5v in there is the power on the USB bus, and possibly some telephony circuitry. |
