1163821 2010-12-21 04:19:00 My cat has been awol for a whole day now and I have done all the usual things. Flyers in letterboxes, notified SPCA, asked neighbours to check garages, sheds etc. Just hope he hasn't decided to jump in someone's vehicle, he is pretty nosey. I miss him like crazy and just want him to come home!

1163822 2010-12-21 04:25:00 A day is not much for a cat, ours goes off for a couple of days here and there, some friends had a cat that went away for nearly a year before it came back! Hopper (14491)
1163823 2010-12-21 04:31:00 Yeah, but it's a bit out of character for him, and I worry that he might be shut in someone's place who is away for the hols.

Sounds a bit like. However, they have remarkable 'homing' instincts. Especially if they have been well treated. My son's cat had only been with us a week and our own cat 'let him out' - ie opened the door. The son's cat came back to the front door - where I rugby tackled him and ended up at the Emergency Doctor Service having my tetanus updated....

Keep looking - let people know.

1163825 2010-12-21 04:56:00 Many years ago we had a new cat go missing for the day, it was in the middle of winter. We left the back door ajar at the end of the day and low and behold about 7-00pm he came nonchalantly walking through the back door looking as if, what are you worried about I'm home now.

1163826 2010-12-21 05:03:00 Some years ago we moved house - about 2 km - and the damn cat kept going back to the old place.
Over the course of some weeks we tried every old-wives tale recipe to try to make him stay at the new house.
We finally "donated" it to the new owners of the house and they rather reluctantly accepted him.
A mind of its own.

1163827 2010-12-21 05:39:00 a day is nothing to worry about. more than likely it has had a tom around beating the crap out of it and it won't come back for a little while. mind you this time of year they can stay away hunting to. tweak'e (69)

A friend of mine locked his cats in the laundry for a week when they moved
