1199825 2011-05-06 07:22:00 Hi All. I have a tiny problem. XpHome SP3. Word 2003.

In a Folder I have a list of titles starting with 'D. D1 thro D6. But not in that order, all jumbled up. I want them in descending order. How do I do that Please. PJ

PS Is a newer version of Word available as Freeware? PJ

1199826 2011-05-06 07:39:00 Auto Sort?
I can't recall where it is exactly...

No free office/word... If you want free, try LibreOffice...

1199827 2011-05-06 08:07:00 Rename the files with a prefix like 00007 00006 etc in the order you want them.

Word is not free.

1199828 2011-05-06 08:08:00 Hi PJ I use Qpen Office, it's compatible with Windows Word.

You could type Sort into "help", as I just did with Word 2003

Lurking.

1199829 2011-05-06 08:33:00 Simple -- in the folder - right click a blank space in the folder, arrange icons by Name.

Make sure auto arrange is also selected. Hit refresh, or close/open the folder - They will arrange as you want, D1, D2 D3 etc See Attachments

OK Guys, that worked.

Reason Iasked about Word uprade is so that I can communicate properly with a 2007/10 on another computer. I have run a compatibility programme.

hanks all. PJ

1199834 2011-05-06 23:19:00 Install the Office Compatibility Pack if you haven't already - or is this the one ? From Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) allows Office 2003 to read 2007 & 2010 fine. You can also save in the new format as well from memory. wainuitech (129)
