Smoking tobacco is perfectly legal, and there has been plenty of debate on the pros and cons, so as far as Im concerned its your choice. I dont smoke, but have no intention imposing my views upon those who do, and equally I dont expect them to try and impose their views upon me. :) |

| 1166257 | 2011-01-02 23:44:00 | OK, read some of the posts, skipped quite a few... Me, smoked for 15ish years, gave up 6 years ago. My partner still smokes As for smell, I find the smell of my hands after fishing more abhorrent than I do my partners breath after she's had a smoke.. yet I continue fishing. For the health, yes my partner knows she would be better off without cigarettes. Personally tho, I know the kid and I survive better while she IS smoking. Lesser of 2 evils I guess :D But in the end, its a smokers choice. Who am I to force their hand I'd rather see the drinking attitude of kiwis change before I see them all smoke-free (especially the teens) |

| 1166258 | 2011-01-03 03:09:00 | My old man smoked himself blind (macular degeneration), and still continued to smoke . However, once he'd had a stroke he completely forgot he had any desire for the cigs . Not intended in a nasty way but Yeah I expect brain damage does change the way you think . Macular degeneration . Cause * Aging: * Family history: * Macular degeneration gene: o Mutation of the ATP synthase gene: * Stargardt's disease * Arg80Gly variant of the complement protein C3 * Hypertension: . * Cardiovascular status . * High fat intake is associated with an increased risk of macular degeneration in both women and men . * Oxidative stress: It has been proposed that age-related accumulation of low-molecular-weight, phototoxic, pro-oxidant melanin oligomers within lysosomes in the retinal pigment epithelium may be partly responsible * Fibulin-5 mutation Rare forms of the disease are caused by geneic defects in fibulin-5, in an autosomal dominant manner . * Race Macular degeneration is more likely to be found in Caucasians than in people of African descent . * Exposure to sunlight especially blue light . |

Back then one pkt of 20 cigarettes cost two shillings = 20cents = 1 cent each retail. In my case my father worked as a fitter & turner for WD & HO Wills and we got free ones which were not for resale and they were not wrapped in cellophane. 50 years later one pkt 30 cigarettes bought today cost $18.00 = 60 cents each. So I was exposed to second hand smoke for some time before I took it up and should be dead by now according to some. Why am I not yet dead? |

| 1166262 | 2011-01-03 03:46:00 | So what are you trying to infer? You're an evil zombie. Actually, I was thinking along the same lines, are you the undead form of the one formerly known as Sweep? |
