1166247 2011-01-02 21:52:00 I really doubt that, there is an underground in Singapore. You don't hear about it because the media is controlled by the state.

And it’s already happening here.

I have a mate that makes his beer money by on selling imported smokes. :D

The whole importation is quite legit as they are brought in duty free by mates and family, who travel a lot overseas, but don’t smoke themselves.

Quite often his mobile rings when he’s at my place and he has to duck away for a pick-up or drop-off.

Hardly of Mr Asia proportion but I guess he can expect business to expand when the new laws kick in.

But the fact that Government debated and changed the law Under Urgency still leaves me shaking my head and wondering just how this country is run. If that was urgent, then there is a lot super, super, super urgent that hasn’t been attended to. :(

1166248 2011-01-02 22:14:00 Well let's also ban vehicles, fast food, dangerous sports and anything else that might kill you then.

P, Weed and other substances are illegal drugs but that does not stop people using then does it.
You left out Suicide and there are more of them than road deaths.

1166249 2011-01-02 22:16:00 Gambling is bad too, in every casino around the country there are hundreds of "regulars", same people day in day out playing the same games and losing money, ruining lives... There are TV ad campaigns for that too, so why not ban gambling too?
When they banned tobacco advertising, if they hadn't been a bunch of hypocrites they would have banned alcohol and gambling advertising as they are as bad as each other.

If some bugger thinks his life isn't worth living, more power to him.

I notice how you say him as men are far more successful.

1166254 2011-01-02 22:46:00 If some bugger thinks his or her (also it's, for those trans-gender people) life isn't worth living, more power to him, her or it.

Fixed. :)

1166255 2011-01-02 23:09:00 What disturbed me on last nights news was a couple of clips of smokers saying along the lines of:

"I'm an addict . I can't give up . "

Which frankly, is just a handy label used as an excuse not to try to give up . If they take such a defeated attitude, then they've psyched themselves out before they've even considered trying .

Lame excuse . Giving it up is definitely not impossible .

Amazing how much the 'addiction' is all in the mind . My old man smoked himself blind (macular degeneration), and still continued to smoke . However, once he'd had a stroke he completely forgot he had any desire for the cigs .
