1165969 2011-01-02 22:33:00 *A feature currently called "My PC Knows Me," it will scan your face and log you in.
That is one I am definitely not looking forward to.

1165971 2011-01-02 23:13:00 I look forward to features like 'My Computer Knows Me'. ------ "Good morning Computer, can you get me information on ???????".
. They have that now in a basic version, Voice Recognition - :D

or as scotty in the star Trek Move " The voyage home"

Scotty: Computer! Computer?
[He's handed a mouse, and he speaks into it]
Scotty: Hello, computer.
Dr. Nichols: Just use the keyboard.
Scotty: Keyboard. How quaint..

Come to think of it I have never seen a mouse or keyboard on Star trek.

I have played with voice recognition but stopped using it. With further development I can see it having potential. This may be the way that computing will go.

1165973 2011-01-03 03:55:00 Long live XP!!!!

Just FYI, in 2007 when Windows 98 was nine years old, it had just half a percentage point of market share. XP has outlived its use. :p

Long live modern operating systems! :D

1165974 2011-01-03 04:31:00 XP has a use which Vista, 7, and Windows 8 will probably never have - Ease of use.

Want to change some setting in XP?
Go to the place where it is and change it.

Want to change some setting in Vista\Win7?
Go to the place where it makes no sense to put it, jump through several tabs, menus, submenus, advanced buttons and "show hidden settings that might confuse you if you are a moron" buttons, click UAC allow button about 5 times, and then make the change.

I know which one I prefer!

1165975 2011-01-03 04:50:00 The only reason you need an O/S is so that applications run under it.

Some people forget this and spend time tweaking the O/S.

The apps are what get the task(s) done rather than the O/S.

Seen quite a few tablets though. :)

The OS does a lot more than that, memory management, hardware configuration etc . . . .

A lot of these functions have options which can be changed, and in a lot of cases should be changed .

Of course that is down to preference, but if I want to change options, I should be able to do it easily without the settings all hidden away somewhere .

Sure I can understand that some people would like these kind of options hidden as they will never change them but for someone like me . . .

Ultimately I think there should be an OS-Global setting to show or hide advanced options easily or not . . .

My ASUS N50Vc already does this. Very handy.
