1165608	2010-12-30 17:32:00	Jerry Brown did indeed run - and won. Ol' Governor Moonbeam, Act II. His ticket was 'No new taxes and we'll keep all the services we have now and I promise that". Today he announced that he's raising the sales tax 1% and the DMV* registration fees by 15%, and the state income tax will lose the lowest base deductions of 20-22% for the next four years (his proposed tenure) and all this before Arnie has left the office! Didn't people learn from his tax-n-spend policies last time? There is also a new gasoline tax increase of 8% - called a 'fee' so it doesn't get voted upon and it just 'goes into effect' when he takes office in February. He has also raised an electric surcharge 'fee' for all those who register electric or hybrid cars in California for the money needed to build new electric power generating stations. Seems that overnight charging of the few electric vehicles already on the road are consuming more electricity than they envisioned, and new stations and lines and sub-stations are necessary for the current (not to mention the 'future') loads upon our 'antiquated' distribution system, are making themselves known to the home consumer too. There are reports that it costs over $17.00 to recharge one vehicle per day. Where did the tree huggers think the electricity would come from to run these new electric cars? Crickets rubbing their legs in a protected desert some place? :eek:. *DMV: Department Of Motor Vehicles, licensing, registration and general middle-man haven for nepotism and buddy fees. I know my camera got low on batteries and shut off some time during the run, but I don't know where - the lens was closed and retracted when I looked at after arriving.
