| 1165287 | 2010-12-29 00:22:00 | It's like driving a worn out mark2 Cortina on cross plys. Phil B, that wasn't a nice thing to say about the Mk11 Cortina! Had one from 1970 till 1994 and it must have been exceptional ! because our family of 4 traveled round the South Island every year for our holidays'. Almost as good as a 4WD too as son and I did a lot of rabbit shooting on farmers' land, lol. Lurking. |

| 1165288 | 2010-12-29 01:01:00 | :thanks Thanks everyone for the good and bad feed back. Looks like we will turn down the offer of the Jeep. I have made a couple of calls, called in a favour or two, will probably pick up either a demo Rav, several available, all under 5000k or might see what it would cost to get a brand new one via work. :thanks |

| 1165289 | 2010-12-29 01:08:00 | But if you've got your heart set on it .. Point here is, that I am just a mere male, what would I know about cars:lol: my jobs in life is to pay for the petrol and servicing, and to keep my mouth shut in between. My good wife is the one that will be driving it and she is more concerned about looks and colour than practical things. Joys of being married :D |

I couldn't find the "Where's-the-bucket-so-I-can-throw-up?" or the "I-work-too-hard-for-my-money-to-throw-it-away-on-that-pile-of-overpriced-and-overspecced-garbage" emoticon... EDIT: Since it's prime market appears to be rappers, I assume there are suitable gun racks for their weapon of choice? And sufficient hidden compartments for their drugs? |

Just don't put the 22-inch tires and wheels on it - they are an option . We have blue hairs driving them here . Over 100 year old blue hairs! Since when is . 82Gs in a turn running flat? Huh? I think the last Euro-Box to do that was a 1946 Morgan - but it required railroad tracks to keep it on the road, and the wooden wheel spokes fell out . Some of youse guys are just blind . |

| 1165294 | 2010-12-29 07:27:00 | www.cbsnews.com As far as I know, the Escalade is not available in NZ, but we do have 1 or 2 CTS sedans. :) |

| 1165295 | 2010-12-29 07:38:00 | The trick with the Morgan was/is quite common with all those Euro-trashmobiles (particularly the Lucas infested ones). Before you can get them tested on corners, you have to get them going. The cornering aptitude was neccessary for the frequent urgent turns required into repair establishments from roads liberally coated in dripped oil. It's a Yuppie-Mobile too. | 1165296 | 2010-12-29 09:38:00 | :wub i loved my jeep . . . . . sigh . . . . . memories . . . . . I just sold my 1996 Jeep cherokee V6 model in october 2010, had it nearly 9 years, loved it, but if you have the pocket thats fine, if not move on, im not sure about the newer ones, but jeeps are tough, but the motors need to be serviced regularly by some who know what they are doing and some who you can trust . and the older ones do break down . or need repairs fairly often . In NZ i would never buy a Diesel vehicle as the cost to joe blogs and road kms / tax doesnt deem it worth while . i updated my jeep to a suzuki escudo ( vitara ) i love it, and it has done everything i have expected so far, and on par cost wise for fuel . the thing ya have to take into consideration, if its a lady driving it, petrol is the way to go, petrol would be worth it if you do high kms, and kept it running hot . i would possibly buy another one some day, but at the time i needed to get rid of a few vehicles and have just one . oh and if she needs to change tyres make sure she knows how or where the stuff is to change it . i like jeeps, i loved mine, but never had a diesel one, had a diesel double cab ute, went well, but the petrol ones are better for normal joe bloggs . for me i wont look at anything thats not petrol now . oh and ps, mine was an american model, not a jap import, was a solid brick . . . . good luck beetle :) |
