| 1200237 | 2011-05-08 03:36:00 | :help: Brother serving overseas, has phoned me in a panic for help with laptop that won't start. Bought this year and was working perfectly up until this morning. Turned on and won't boot (he got a message to say something about it not being able to boot)...sorry he can't remember exactly what it said. Lights are all on, and he has tried removing the battery and replacing etc. Now it won't come on at all. No external HDD are plugged in or anything. LED lights are all displaying, and was plugged in to a surge protector. Appreciate some help. I read somewhere that said to take out the memory and reinstall, but I don't know where to find that to explain to him over the phone. Would appreciate as much help as possible. Thanks in advance. |

Either it can't see the drive at all or it says it can't find the operating system. Into the BIOS - see if the drive shows up - if so, Windows self-destructed. If not - hard drive died. |

I guess he'll just have to send it back to me to put in for repair or warranty repair etc. Cheers, |
