1461744 2019-06-27 21:48:00 You need to take some serious action

Change ALL you passwords. All of them .
Make sure all your new passwords are different

Backup data & Wipe & reload that PC. Dont risk it. AV programs can & do occasionally miss some malware, especially when that malware isnt known about .

After this is all cleaned up, dont let other people use your PC or laptop.
You'd be surprised how often malware infections are because a neighbour/son/relatives :)

1461745 2019-07-01 07:32:00 Nobody else uses my pc, not sure how it got on. but have a suspicion and somebody with enough knowledge do do serious mischeif if he was inclined........ nobody in this house......... currently pc is turned off.............cant reinstall etc because I have no idea what my ID authentication number is, been busy with life and work so have been using the old laptop and slowly changing all ID /passwords, nothing is original, its all new. its taking time because I dont want to re start pc and search for them.............would rather just doa fresh clean install........ but the hiccup of no number at the moment.
its all on the when I have time and the correct info I will get to it. turned off hopefully it cant get up to any mischeif, especially since it isnt conected to the net any more...lol

:o

have installed and run kaperspy on all pc's in this house, (1 other thats not mine) and no other problems found. but we all taking this serious, I contacted the bank last week and have heard nothing......

its mostly just a pain in the preverbial and a good reminder of what is important on my pc.........which is always photos...lol

thanks all :)

1461746 2019-07-01 07:56:00 So guys.
As there was this scam warning on TV I was explaining things to my mum.
The obvious, if someone rings HER, not the other way around and wants her info, DOB or whatever, Ring the supposed organisation back.

But I showed her a spam I had (had to go trawl through the gmail spam folder to find one)

This was addressed to an old, not in use email address I had.
One of the we have put a trojan on your PC and if you don't pay X$ bitcoins....

I said to her:
1)No I did not go to any website it claims
2)I don't have embarrassing pics of me in embarrassing poses for them to share
3)IT's Linux and his malware wouldn't work even if I ran it deliberately

What is true:
He got that email address of the organisations server that I had used it on.
Slack security they have.
Which is not uncommon.

So am I panicking? Nope, it was a week old and had given me 48hrs to pay anyway.

Ho hum.

Also I said to my mum, if Spark and/or the Police (as in the scam) did ring and say something terrible had happened, why the hell would you send them $25,000?

It's like some cop turning up at the door and saying well, you have to give me $25,000 before I investigate your burglary or whatever.

2 Things -

1. If its windows 10 you don't need a Key, since it will have been already activated, all you do is wipe all partitions, reinstall from fresh, if you get prompted for a key simply select "I dont have one", it will carry on, once you go online it will detect its already been activated ( the motherboard) and automatically activate. If its still Windows 7 then theres several programs that will get the installed Key :)

2. As I suggested in Post #9 either the Shadow Explorer, OR run some sort of data recovery program first.

1461749 2019-07-01 19:38:00 Magical Jellybean I think from memory gary67 (56)
1461750 2019-07-01 21:56:00 Magical Jellybean I think from memory That should work, another that will work is from Lazesoft - keyfinder . lazesoft . com/lazesoft-windows-key-finder . html" target="_blank">www . lazesoft . com

The biggest Difference is Lazesoft DOESN"T need to install, its stand alone where as the Free Jellybean has to install .

Lazesoft also have a bootable CD that contains it for unbootable systems and many other things can run from .

1461751 2019-07-02 00:19:00 ***** use the install key on the COA sticker ******* :badpc:

If its a brand name PC, with the original install, the key extracted by majic jelly bean/lazesoft whatever probhably wont be usable with a standard install disk.
HP etc have their own key, thats what you'll extract. It wont work with 'normal' Install disks

If its a generic or locally assembled PC , no problems using the extracted key then

Much appreciate the help :) The key will be usable Via Jellybean or Lazesoft.

The Operating System was W7 x64 OEM so you will have gotten a DVD along with the COA sticker, look on the side or rear of the case. Normally I tell people to keep the motherboard Box for Warranty Purposes and any software would have been put in that box.

New PC Built April 2013

"Peach" Rebuilt a month Later.

Hardest Part was trying to remember your real Name  , Had to narrow it down by City you live in ;) Then looked up Customer details spreadsheet - Oh yeah - there you are :D
