1462025 2019-08-14 22:38:00 More than half of world’s forest wildlife lost in 40 years, study finds:

www.independent.co.uk

"The report, ‘Below the Canopy’, written jointly by WWF and ZSL,"
Written by WWF , so hardly unbiased then. :)
Yep , cutting down forests, bush etc will kill off wildlife . No real surprise their .

But , again, all talk no action .
If you really care , start here , right in NZ. Its somehow OK for NZ to level our bush & forest for farms & housing , but not other countries .
So , if it really matters , start in you own back yard. Level your house & section, and replant it with native plants . Dont pick and choice who can and cant deforest their country . 1 rule for all , surely , replant all that was cut down.

1462026 2019-08-14 23:24:00 The Amazon basin is especially important to the world, it is known as "the lungs of the world". NZ doesn't matter at all to the rest of the world. It's only important to us, and we have no excuse, if NZ can't be run properly by a well educated and informed population then the rest of the world can't and probably won't do any better. zqwerty (97)

1462028 2019-08-19 00:05:00 Iceland's Okjokull glacier commemorated with plaque:

"Ok is the first Icelandic glacier to lose its status as glacier," it reads.

"In the next 200 years all our main glaciers are expected to follow the same path. This monument is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done.

"Only you know if we did it."

Arctic permafrost is thawing fast. That affects us all. With some really striking pictures:

It is just to easy to find stuff to support either side of this debate particularly if you just ignore anything that does not suit your preconceived opinion. The only way to be certain who is correct is to hang around for another couple of hundred years or so and see what happens.

1462032 2019-08-20 07:11:00 Can't compare a charlatan like this to National Geographic, he has no credibility whatsoever and supremely bad taste in ties. A grinning corporate shill. zqwerty (97)
1462033 2019-08-20 08:13:00 That did come from National Geographic. I think you are proving my point. CliveM (6007)
1462034 2019-08-20 09:31:00 He's making money out of being a climate change denier as the issue is no longer in doubt amongst the informed, he's a fool with no credibility.

We are not talking about opinions here we are talking about facts from around the world that show we are headed for/in the middle of, some serious problems all because of out of control population growth and unbridled, uncaring capitalism which only exploits nature and gives very little back to maintain sustainability.

These random idiots saying that they don't believe that global warming is taking place at an accelerating pace is just a sign of some sort of axe to grind and lack of objectivity, an inability to take in large amounts of information and come to correct conclusions about what they may mean.
