1463095 2019-08-17 06:48:00 A difficult one I know, however, what is the value of closing threads on Chat?? Far from convinced! I can see, somewhat,
that they may be of use in PressF1, where the world moves on. However, can Chat ever end. Maybe a 'rule' in one area
is an overkill in another? Food for thought

1463096 2019-08-17 09:47:00 Can see the point of them closing, if a thread is continually added to, replied or conversation ongoing it stays open, if there are no more posts on it after a set amount of time (not to sure what that time is) it auto closes.

Example: "Windows-10-Latest-Tech-Preview" Its been going since 2015

Space? Once it's closed for ages, it gets deleted perhaps?
But then google picks up a lot of very old threads....

1463099 2019-08-17 22:08:00 Threads are auto-closed after 3 months (I think) of inactivity. They are never deleted. We introduced the auto-close due to regular incidents of new users answering a post that was years old. The post would appear in a Google search and they would register to answer the question or say they have the same problem and didn't realise it was from 8 years ago etc.

If you need a thread re-opened, then the Mods can do this on request.

My SWMBO claims I arrived on her doorstep as a result of a Gypsy Curse after she put pepper under the tail of a horse drawing a caravan. ;)
