| 1462888 | 2019-08-05 21:48:00 | A gunman on Saturday killed 20 people at a Walmart store in El Paso, close to the border with Mexico. Two more victims of the attack died in hospital on Monday. And that's just one instance of mass shooting. Apparently they have a mass shooting at least once a day.:( What I don't understand is that if it happens every day, why did they single out the shooting in El Paso to feature in the news? What was different between that shooting and any other daily shooting? Surely it would be news if they reported that "there were not any mass shootings today." What a sick country! Thankfully we live in a country where that sort of happening is not common place.:) |

| 1462890 | 2019-08-05 22:22:00 | Its the American Way :groan: A LOT of them go on about its their right to carry guns so they can defend themselves. BS!! But how many times when these shooting happen do we see the headline (along the lines of) -- "Member of public pulls out gun and shoots mass shooter" Mind you the way some of the cops are there, that person could be taken out as well due to firing a gun. |

| 1462891 | 2019-08-05 22:34:00 | The NZ media seems obsessed with Trump and US gun killings. Heard on the news this morning that there have been 3000 gun killings in Mexico alone this year. No NZ media reporting that. | paulw (1826) | ||

They class 'mass' as any shooting of more than 1 person: eg robberies , home invasion, drive by shootings , people hit in the crossfire, gang shootings 'Normal' crim shootings do seem to by far outway shootings by nutjobs . |

Heard it before. Neither do nuclear bombs, But back when it was all swords, less people died when war happened. Try doing a mass killing with a knife. |
