| 1462259 | 2019-07-11 23:31:00 | Just got home late yesterday from hospital.I had a fall off a step ladder while screwing in a security light bulb over the garage door last Thursday (6th) In the dark and pouring rain. One way to get a ride in a Mercedes. Pity it had to be an ambulance. They sent me home on Friday afternoon but woke up on Saturday morning unable to move. SWMBO rang Healthlink and they were most helpful and triaged me back to hospital at 1pm. As it was code red I lay waiting in ED until 9.45pm and was then swamped with drs. Had more xrays, MRI and scans and was then transferred to the ward at 2am. The result being I have a fractured pelvis. The most painful thing I have experienced. They say it's going to be a long recovery period. Have a Walker and will then progress to crutches. Controlled drugs for use before trying to move. That'll teach me. As SWMBO says...."remember that you are 76, not 56...grrr :( " Ken :( :) |

The result being I have a fractured pelvis. ) So they missed that the first time round??!! pretty ****. 56 isn't so hot either, I am wrecked from building the new gate...I was cutting wood lengthways with the jigsaw, bent over on ground, it vibrated a lot on the knotty bits. Didn't do my arthritic bits any good, feel like I've been run over by a truck today. Off to resume doing the rest of the gate.... But pelvis, geez, sons ex had that, took her months, he had to help her have a shower and such. |

| 1462268 | 2019-07-12 09:14:00 | Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I fractured my pelvis in a high side exit off my motor bike - it wasn't the going up that caused the problem, it was the coming down that did the damage! The pain was eye-watering - only slightly less severe than the exit of a kidney stone in later years . Like you, they missed it in hospital, sent me home, and phoned up later to tell me their mistake . Mine was a fracture of the pubic bone part of the pelvis . So you have all my sympathies and more - perhaps it was easier for me to heal because I was in my late 30's/early 40's at the time . Take it quietly . . . |
