1462243	2019-07-10 12:02:00	Yesterday I received an email from Microsoft advising me of changes to the terms & conditions for the use of their products. It's a very long document, but from the contents I understand that Microsoft have Copyright, Royalty free to all information that they acquire from clients Microsoft devices to do with what they like, and that if we object we should close our Microsoft account, and our licenses would be revoked. This means that when you by buy a new computer which will have Windows 10 in it, it will become unusable if you do not accept Microsoft's conditions. You could demand your money back because you were not asked to sign the agreement prior to the purchase, but I doubt that they would oblige you! You would probably install Linux, and never use Microsoft again.	mzee (3324)

EVERY piece of software you install collects data from your computer, in one form or another. This means that when you by buy a new computer which will have Windows 10 in it, it will become unusable if you do not accept Microsoft's conditions. Funny that -- if you don't agree then you cant use the software -- OH RIGHT who actually reads the terms and conditions when installing ANY software ? If you don't click on I Agree, it wont install. Apple, does the same thing, yet dont hear complaints about it ?? If any one thinks linux is better well maybe in some form BUT it still collects data from you, AND install any program and that's all out the window, install Chrome or Firefox - kiss good by to any privacy. Google is great for it, it collects much more data than Microsoft and uses it against you (targeted advertising - spam in email etc). If anyone want to read the actual Conditions since Mzee is making such a big fuss heres the changes, within them are ALL the related documents, exactly the same as using any other software ;) www.microsoft.com If you have a smart phone either Android or Apple - best throw it away as it will be collecting everything about you as well.	wainuitech (129)

Its been that way for as long as I remember , even Win95 ? Everyone just ticks the box . Waaaay back, some tried getting a refund on the cost of the preloaded OS , as they didnt want to agree. I dont like all the data collection either . There was once a time when data collection actually had users up in arms, and it was called out for what it is. Only ourselves to blame (collectively) for putting up with it. We all let them get away with, one small step at a time and here we are now. It would stop tomorrow if everyone boycotted those products that collected/tracked user data. Most people nowdays really dont care & will even proactively send their private stuff to websites knowing it will no longer be private (eg facebook)	1101 (13337)

The other day I setup a new gmail account for a customer, brand new Laptop, opened goggle to go to email, created the account, went and downloaded a couple of programs, one being a media player they used to have, NO EMAIL DETAILS REQUIRED --- Went into gmail a few minutes later to show the person how to use the online gmail, and bugger me :groan: already emails relating to media players and several other things.	wainuitech (129)

They despised Google I think, when they blatantly circumvented Google's T and C's with their BMW website - with linked doorway pages leading to German sites. Google removed BMW from their search engine. Then Germans cracked up (www.inverse.com) when Google started mapping their country, then extracting their news stories... Go back to simpler times - see if people (including millions of students) can handle without those big Knights including - Google's properties, Microsoft (software), Facebook, Amazon, eBay, etc. We possibly need them as much as they may need us...	kahawai chaser (3545)
