| 1459165 | 2019-03-17 00:13:00 | I have a elderly Toshiba Satellite Pro, duel booted with Linux Mint 19 x64 & Win10 Win10 boots reasonably quick for an old system but Mint takes a good 5 minutes to completely boot. I have had Mint 18 previously on this system & it was fine. There are no errors shown during the boot & it runs fine afterwards. The only additional software is Google Chrome & Grub Customizer. I have been on the Linux forums looking at solutions to similar issues & have tried some of them but most seem to be with earlier kernal versions. This is fully updated & upgraded. Any sugestions? |

| 1459169 | 2019-03-17 06:35:00 | Ok since posting this thread I tried a few suggested but unsuccessful remedies from the Linux site. To be fair they were all from last year & probably for older kernals. Then I noticed some error warnings showing during the shutdown part of the reboot. [drm:drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_flip_done [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR* [CRTC:41:pipe B] flip_done timed out [drm:drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_dependencies [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR* [PLANE:35:plane B] flip_done timed out When I googled these, it led me to the solution. forums.linuxmint.com The second post by "thx-1138" had the correct solution for my problem. It is now booting just as quick as LM18 used to. |

| 1459170 | 2019-03-17 19:16:00 | So a driver issue. Mine has slowed down over time, I have not updated kernels or anything during this time. It's just slower. Slower to boot, not the actual boot, the settle down bit. And shut down. I suspect it's the browser actually, loading crap, I might wipe it all out, but I kind of like some of the cache stuff it does, it's handy. |
