1202254 2011-05-15 04:39:00 Got a mate with a virus on Windows, he can't open anything (not even explorer, task manager, etc) so I suggested booting into Linux to salvage his data then format and reinstall. Can anyone suggest a small bootable version (flashdrive or CD) that will be suitable? I know they exist, I just can't think of the names :)

thanks!

1202256 2011-05-15 04:58:00 Try this (http://www.sysresccd.org/) - it comes with almost every recovery tool you're likely to need. Erayd (23)

1202259 2011-05-15 05:33:00 Puppy Linux also contains "Partedit", arguably the best partition manager available. mzee (3324)
1202260 2011-05-15 08:07:00 You could also try Damn small Linux (http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/). Only 50Mb. ubergeek85 (131)
1202261 2011-05-15 09:17:00 I use hirens boot disk, has a bootable mini linux, and another OS that probably isn't legal to be on there. Alex B (15479)

1202263 2011-05-15 09:53:00 My favourite one is Parted Magic (partedmagic.com) - it is not just a partitioning tool. johnd (85)
