1201975 2011-05-14 01:31:00 Suddenly the behaviour of the 'Ribbon' in my MS Word has altered.
The app shows the top row of tabs/categories (like Home, Insert, Page Layout, References, etc.) but does not show below it the ribbon (menu choices in the old days).

If I click on, say, Home - the ribbon appears and can be clicked upon.
But then it immediately disappears again. :annoyed:

Anyone know how to restore its original appearance and behaviour? Be most grateful.

1201976 2011-05-14 01:34:00 Which version od Word is this and does it happen with other apps in Office like powerpoint and excel? Snorkbox (15764)
1201977 2011-05-14 01:48:00 Office 2007: On the little down arrow next to the Home button, there is an option to "hide ribbon". Untick that.

Office 2010: On the far right hand side of where the ribbon should be there's a button to toggle the ribbon (next to the question mark)

1201978 2011-05-14 03:03:00 From my own perspective on the whole thing - consider yourself lucky to have lost the damned ribbon! I think it's a terrible 'feature'. Paul.Cov (425)
1201979 2011-05-14 04:07:00 Well Paul ... take somebody's advice and click on the little ^ on the top right of the screen ... ribbon disappears ... but personally, I prefer the ribbon open because I don't know ALL of the shortcut keys and Word looks bloody awful without all the nice decorations ... ;-) SP8's (9836)
1201980 2011-05-14 04:17:00 For Office 2007 and 2010 you can get a free replacement older style menu. Snorkbox (15764)
1201981 2011-05-14 06:37:00 Yippee! You're all brilliant.
As these suites get fancier there is still not much accessible documentation. I guess I am excusing myself (in a whining way) for never search for that which I didn't want!!

1201982 2011-05-14 06:48:00 Try this : on the view tab, right click on Print layout, extreme left of ribbon, in the menu, select to clear the tick by Minimise the ribbon. jinja_thom (4306)
1201983 2011-05-14 08:52:00 Once you get used to the ribbon, clicking on the right one makes everything much easier. The key thing is to play with it, to get what you want. all options are there if you have played enough. PPp (9511)
