i just found this card, and at the moment its within my price range.

my ati radeon 9600/x1050 256mb is sort of dieing, as i can play games fine on my old 128mb one, but the 256mb refuses and causes errors.

So, is this card on trade me a decent short term replacement? just to keep me going for now?

1201190 2011-05-11 02:21:00 Its only good if your games fall within its limits.
I don't think its particularly good myself even when new and current the GS models weren't great but now its quite old and underpowered with only GDDR2 ram.

Also its AGP not PCIe thats fine if your motherboard does not have a PCIe slot but a huge step backwards if it does.

1201191 2011-05-11 02:28:00 My mobo is only agp, and the games i play are old anyway. it looks like it will work fine for the stuff i do. goodiesguy (15316)
1201192 2011-05-11 02:33:00 Yeah for what you want it will be fine. Make sure there is some decent airflow in your case though those older cards can pump out a lot of heat when under load. :2cents: wratterus (105)
1201193 2011-05-11 02:38:00 I have lots of air flow in my case, and when i figure out how to get the damn front of it, im gonna put some fans in the front goodiesguy (15316)

Dunno if it's any good, but it's gotta be better than my crappy dieing radeon 9600/x1050

Fron what I can tell your card is probably the "ATi All-In-Wonder 9600" as (it's AGP). So the card you're looking at should be quite a bit better. Can't comment on power requirements 'though.

1201197 2011-05-11 03:27:00 When you say the present card is dieing what do you mean?

Usually it's dead as in does not work at all. Or it may be driver issues.

1201198 2011-05-11 03:40:00 I doubt windows 7 has a driver for his 9600!....seriously, I would look for a PCIe motherboard and get a better card.... SolMiester (139)
