1166885 2011-01-04 06:24:00 Depends on the severity, but I'm going with the 'Shot' option anyway. qazwsxokmijn (102)
1166886 2011-01-04 06:31:00 What sort of criminals? somebody (208)
1166887 2011-01-04 06:33:00 Criminal offence: Smoking dope or dealing meth to 12 year olds.
Criminal offence: Stab wound as a result of armed robbery, result manslaughter charges or stabbing an officer (dead) in an attempt to vacate a botched robbery.

Each offence has different circumstances and should be treated differently.

One should be shot... with a water pistol. the others should get one in the chest from a Soviet anti tank rifle... with rusty bullets, hope the blighter gets tetanus.

1166888 2011-01-04 06:38:00 What sort of criminals?

Ones that do enough crap to warrant a jail term.

Which in NZ means 4 or 5 years in the youth justice system with potentially 100's of victims, followed by a few dozen appearances in the adult court, and potentially 100's of incidents of breaking the law.

or.

Violent offenders.

Anyhow, Criminals in general, should they receive jail time or be supported in and by the community the offend against?

1166890 2011-01-04 07:00:00 I'm going with the kept in jail option.

I would not, at this time, support capital punishment as the Police do not always get it right.

There are exceptions like Bell and Burton who should have been shot some time back.

1166891 2011-01-04 08:55:00 The gaol option cause problems, the California system of 3 strikes, has caused a burgeoning prison population, with all the excessive costs that go with keeping people in prison long term.

Do we need to keep scumbags in the gene pool or is the world a better place without them?

1166892 2011-01-04 09:00:00 I think the judges should go inside tbh
There is so much difference in judgements it is unbelievable.

For instance wasn't there a dude recently who killed his mate deliberately.. got 2 or 3 years. Then there is my stepson, bottled a guy requiring stitching, and got 7 years. Granted the stepson is no angel... but how can you kill someone and only get 2 or 3???
