1201219 2011-05-18 06:56:00 I almost never get things off trademe, but this was the easiest way for me to get a video card, and for a decent price too. goodiesguy (15316)
1201220 2011-05-18 07:05:00 I think youd be hard pressed to find a shop selling agp cards now anyway. And you definitely wouldnt want to pay what they are asking!

Let us know how the card goes, was it the fanless model?

It's got a fan, about the same size fan as the one on my radeon, but this one looks far easier to clean and it has a huge heatsink (the radeon didnt have a heatsink anywhere).

1201222 2011-05-18 08:08:00 try and get an DX10 gpu, anything from the nvidia 8000 series or ati HD2000+ series will be brillaint.

directx10 lets you use hardware acceleration for flash videos.

for old computers its like having dualcore pretty much.

Check those capacitors when you get it, if they say "FZ" they are total junk and should be replaced on sight. (known to randomly explode and kill cards)

Luckily that card uses SMD ones so they would be easy to replace ;)

So if i had to replace the capacitors, where would i get new ones (better ones) and how much do they cost?

I did bid on a dx10 card last week, but was outbid at the last minute.

Plus all the games i play are directx 9.

RS Components or Farnell is where I get mine, cost depends on brand and specifications, it's hard to say without knowing what you need in the situation.

However, there may be nothing wrong with yours anyway.

how much youtube do you watch?

getting a DX10 card means not regretting it in a few years.
GPGPU is an important feature to have.

how much ram do you have?
which cpu?

1201227 2011-05-18 22:09:00 On slower computers I download YouTube videos manually then watch with VLC.

Runs much better than their bloated piece of crap player that uses Flash.

1201228 2011-05-20 04:00:00 As of lunch time today, it's been couriered down.

How long does it take to courier something down?
