1202277 2011-05-15 07:42:00 Their first question is "Do you have a Windows computer"? If you want to cut the call short, then say no. If you want to have some fun ... :devil

I will have to say "I don't know, it is next to a window though".

1202279 2011-05-15 07:47:00 Customer of mine got suckered into that, they took $200 before he figured out it was a scam. I had warned him several months ago to watch out for these people.
They had disabled lots of services, and made a new account for his troubles, uninstalled Nod32, malwarebytes and spybot, and left him high and dry.

Lucky for him his bank, Kiwi, stopped the transaction.

THEN to top it all off, they called him back 3 days later, saying they had to do some more work and it would cost a further $200.

I actually had the PC at the time of the second call,as he asked me to do some hardware upgrades, and he wanted me to completely reinstall it - they said they were looking at his PC and could see problems -- Funny it was on my "to Do" bench at the time, not even plugged in

If that wasn't bad enough when I returned it, there was a email from them, thanking him for the continuing support :groan:

1202281 2011-05-15 08:05:00 They've been doing the rounds in Dunsandel and Leeston, had two calls already. Everyone has really similar phone numbers though, ie Dunsandel is 325 4xxx, so they're obviously just going on ranges.

Still waiting for my turn :(

1202283 2011-05-15 08:42:00 Another interesting response I've heard of, is to get them to identify which of your machines is at fault. They don't have that in their script. psycik (12851)

1202285 2011-05-15 20:11:00 Their first question is "Do you have a Windows computer"?

They've never asked me that . In fact they don't ask anything, they just say They are xxx and your PC is full of viruses .

Husband has answered it the last 4 times and he tells them he has never owned a computer and what do they think they are doing?

1202286 2011-05-15 20:40:00 You could tell them that you are too busy at the moment so please give me your phone number so I can call you back when I have the time. Bobh (5192)
