1202264 2011-05-16 03:22:00 I normally use Ultimate Boot CD for Windows (http://www.ubcd4win.com/) and boot into live Windows XP, connect a USB drive and copy data to the USB Drive. 100% guranteed read and write of NTFS partitions without the doubts of FUSE for LINUX. If you have the virus details, you can even attempt to delete the offending files without corrupting NTFS file system which Linux Boots tend to do occasionally. tmrafi (5179)

1202266 2011-05-17 02:42:00 Parted Magic is brilliant, and Puppy Linux is great too (just downloaded latest Puppy myself, only 127Mb download). I used to use UBCD4Win too, but it takes an age to boot up and is quite slow in use. Parted Magic and Puppy Linux load into ram and work very quickly.

Most Linux distros come as LiveCD versions nowadays, which means you can use any of them as rescue CD's too.
