2011-05-11 11:16:00 | I, for one, will be interested as to the solution when it's solved. | Snorkbox (15764) | |
2011-05-11 11:24:00 | wow! that looks promising, has all the symptoms covered - was thinking maybe a format & reinstall was going to be the only solution but you've made my day (night) - I'll have a go at it in the morning, Thanks very much Wainuitech Cant guarantee the suggestions in the links will work, the worst that will happen (famous last words :p ) is Office will come out and you wont be able to get it back in. Sometimes in this game if all else fails its "Suck it and see / hope" ;) Things that are meant to work don't and things that you think "no way" surprise ya :D.

2011-05-11 11:36:00 | jayal does at least have a plan B. Format and reinstall would normally work unless it's hardware I think. Another thing is to ensure the install media is clean and no scratches etc.

2011-05-11 12:24:00 | Looks like you can get that packed01.puz message, if puz is associated with something else (support.microsoft.com) | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2011-05-11 20:46:00 | was thinking maybe a format & reinstall was going to be the only solution Why would you do that because one application has a problem. If a fix of the app doesn't work, then naturally removing it and reinstalling it is next. Reinstalling your entire PC is like replacing your cars motor because you had a battery problem.

2011-05-11 23:18:00 | from the first link from Wainuitech, search result for *.puz in C: - nil search result for *.puz in D: - nil hard to rename a non-existant file me thinks - still to follow up on the other suggestion

2011-05-12 11:08:00 | Is this a name Branded PC ? This is only a guess, but if it is, then its possible the original Office was installed Via a server location. I know with office 2010,for New PC's theres a script you can run to load in Office over the LAN from a server - Personally I wont do it that way, I prefer to load in from the CD to avoid future problems. One thing you may like to try, Post 2 (www.petri.co.il) - no idea what will happen though ?

2011-05-12 23:09:00 | name branded? no, i got it originally from a techie relative years ago this for you "snorkbox" support.microsoft.com kinda weird though, Office has disappeared from "all programs" - "add/remove" and Ccleaner but is still in "program files" and some still open - guess if i try the manual delete thing again wont be any the worse off

2011-05-13 07:03:00 | Sounds to me like you've had two different versions of Office installed. You've since removed one, but still have an incomplete installation of another version. I reckon remove all traces (via the usual Add/Remove features either in Control Panel, or on the original media) if you can. Gotta agree with the others though, don't reinstall Windows unless you've exhausted all other sane options.
