1167948 2011-01-07 22:05:00 Hmm, true I guess. I got mine from a skip  you can get EVERYTHING from a skip if you look hard enough.

Built one of my first PC's with skip parts :p A bit demoralizing when someone sees you rising out of s skip triumphantly holding a Quantum bigfoot 4gb but hey! its a HDD!

1167949 2011-01-07 22:52:00 And no, I'm not going to start up as a P dealer!

I have two honey-pots full of resistors and I need to sort out the values.

Part of my "never have to buy another resistor again or at least for a long time anyway" plan.

Some people collect stamps. Agent_24 collects resistors. Can you mount resistors in an album?

Lucky you! I wouldn't mind finding some free cabinets. I definitely agree with finding free stuff, it's amazing sometimes what people throw away when there's nothing wrong (or something very minor wrong) with it.

That's why I like that Freecycle site, good way for people to get rid of stuff they don't want without just trashing it and wasting it

Saying that though, space is a bit of an issue, so I'd rather just sort the resistors into bags, and then put the bags back in the honey pot. Doesn't require extra space for new cabinets.

I imagine you could, not sure the point though. And besides I plan to use these resistors where I can.

Something more interesting like old germanium transistors might be more worth it to put in an album of some kind.

Or these really strange capacitors I have too. Would love to know what they are, will post a photo.

1167951 2011-01-08 00:22:00 Store the resistors by the multipliers ie 1's, 10's, 100's, 1000's, 10,000's, etc that is what I do you can work out the value when you use them. zqwerty (97)
1167952 2011-01-08 00:48:00 Interesting idea Agent_24 (57)
1167953 2011-01-08 01:31:00 Looking at the pictures, I wondered if they would they poke through the plastic bags? You can buy storage containers in a variety of shapes and sizes from various outlets such as supermarkets, red sheds, kMart etc. They aren't very expensive and are reusable. Marnie (4574)
1167954 2011-01-08 01:38:00 Jumbled up as they are now they probably would poke through bags, but if you line them all up they fit just fine.

Dick Smith and Jaycar sell them like that in fact.

1167955 2011-01-08 07:37:00 Go to your bank and get bank bags for free - they usually give 'em in bundles of 100. Will suit sarel (2490)
