2011-01-07 01:12:00 | I'm also with Telecom but get very little spam through to my Outlook 2010 inbox, however, if I log onto my email account via the yahooxtra website ... literally 100's of the things in the spam folder .... think you have to switch "Spamguard" on in the options for it to work though. I do have the spam filter on but you still have to check the spam folder in case something you wanted gets trashed I used to get about 100+ spam emails in the spam folder a day, now I get about 5-10 a day which is MUCH better. The level dropped after McColo got raided.

2011-01-07 08:54:00 | I've noticed a drop too, normally got 10+ a day, now it's more like 2-3 a day. I'm on gmail though, so it's not too bad.

2011-01-07 09:34:00 | You're right. I just checked my Gmail SPAM box & there has been a significant decrease. I am really impressed with the gmail SPAM filter - I used to have heaps of trouble with false positives on Yahoo but gmail has caught all SPAM sent to me & hasn't had a single false positive. | Greven (91) | |
2011-01-07 20:35:00 | I have noticed a big drop off from say 2 years ago. But today I got 4 from "kiwibank" Happy New Year. I think spam will keep increasing as more and more people world wide are going online and they all "want to make money online"

I think spam will keep increasing as more and more people world wide are going online and they all "want to make money online" There is a big difference between spam and scams. Kiwibank type emails are scams/hoaxes that try to get you to enter details on a hoax website. They can't be filtered by spam filters as there is nothing in the email that looks like it could be spam. Spam emails are usually trying to sell you something and there are indications on the email that the spam filters can pick up that this is the case. |
