1167267 2011-01-05 10:11:00 So who do you see when you are ill?

If I am Ill I will go to a doctor.

But it is well accepted that WINZ give out sickness benfits to people based on doctors Certfiicates"

If you are disabled or genuinely sick, there should be help.
But if you are "sick" because of alcohol or drugs then I have no sympathy for you.
Get clean, get a job and get off my back, and if you are a druggie, stop stealing from us all.

1167268 2011-01-05 10:21:00 What about us people who drink too much coffee. Could this qualify as an addiction? Ive had three cups of coffee today.

Yep. Caffeine could cause lack of sleep which means that when you get to work either night or day shift you won't be fully alert will you?

Coca Cola contains caffeine in some flavours so I guess I'd better stop drinking Rum and Coke before I go to work maybe.

1167269 2011-01-05 16:52:00 meh, no one in NZ has to go without, He will be bounced onto the unemployment benefit and then back onto the sickness benefit when he "fails to find" employment.

You are probably right there Metla.

He (they) will go into WINZ and ask (demand, threaten) for money to live on.

1167270 2011-01-05 19:15:00 We gave some bloke a tractor once, He did ask for spare tires but he was crushed in a most unfortunate accident when one fell on him during unloading. The Error Guy (14052)
1167271 2011-01-05 20:22:00 I suspect cutting his benefit will have a negligible impact on his total income.

If he can afford to buy a 2007 Chrysler on the Sickness Benefit, that suggests to me that he has much more lucrative sources of income.

Probably not legal ones.

1167273 2011-01-05 23:36:00 Yes, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest that his Houses – Car – and indeed his benefit of 26 years were all the “Proceeds of Crime” and should be recovered on behalf of the ever suffering tax payer.

However, you can bet your life this isn’t an unfortunate and isolated incident.

I doubt there would be any of the Gangs that didn’t live on the “Proceeds of Crime” topped up by the tax payer by way of benefits of some sort.

It makes me sick the number of genuine cases that are declined whilst these pricks are allowed to rort the system.

Just a few points Digby
Not all drug users are bums, in fact I would say the majority are not.
Not all drug users are thieves, as above.

I see what you mean.

My comments were aimed at drug users that are on benefits.

I am anti drugs, but I suppose if people can afford it from their job its not so bad. (But indirectly they are contributing to the criminal world)
