2011-01-03 08:28:00 | Meh. I can't get to sleep, couldn't since I was 8. Docs refuse to give me any prescriptions. My usual rotation is about 20 hours awake, 7-8 hours sleep is what I'd like. Usually end up getting forced to wake up after 3-4 hours of sleep... Doesn't work well. Even the drink doesn't help.

2011-01-03 08:49:00 | I used to work two jobs. I would be out of bed at 3am to start at 3:30am and work through till noon. I got an hours sleep before restarting at 3pm till 7:30pm. I would be in bed by 9pm. I would be so tired that getting to sleep was not a problem. A lot of people think that they have lain in bed awake at night when in fact they have been in a sleep and wake pattern. They only remember being awake.

2011-01-03 09:27:00 | Hi Beetle I work shift work too but don't start or finish the same time any more than two days in a row. Talk about screwing your internal clock up. This of course lead me down the insomina road. After dragging my ring around for years, I decided to do something about it. Here's what I learnt - the hard way. 1. First, look after yourself. If you don't then you can't look after anyone else. You owe it to yourself and loved ones to get a good nights sleep. Your health depends on it. Sleep has to become your first concern. 2. Lack of sleep is like a bad debt. You get away with it for so long but one day yah goin' pay. 3. Sleep is the time the body uses to repair itself. 4. Are you an Owl or a Lark? Like late shifts or early starts? Does your job cater for this? Can you change jobs so it does? Owls can never be Larks and vice-a-verse-a. 5. Work out a sleep pattern that allows you eight hours sleep a night. Make sure you are in bed at the correct time every night. 6. Try to make your bed, bedroom and surroundings as comfortable and quiet as possible. Rather hard if you go to bed when the family is around. Explain to them why you need to do this. 7. Do not busy your brain with stuff at least one hour before going to bed. This means no TV, no Computer, no nothing - just peace and quiet. If a good book makes you sleepy, go for it. Otherwise avoid them too. 8. As you are breaking bad habits, to start with, you will not get to sleep. Remember however, you are still resting. 9. Do not drink alcohol. It seems to make you sleepy but it actually helps to keep you awake. Tea and coffee have the same effect. Water in the bladder too, disputes sleep. 10. If you are tired during the day and can have a nap, do so. Do not sleep longer than two hours. Set your alarm clock to make sure. 11. As you get older, life gets tougher. Not sleeping properly makes it even worse. 12. Make a note of what is waking you up at the moment and work out ways to avoid this happening in future. Follow the above tips and you will be sleeping like a baby for a great nights rest in no time. The good habit will replace the bad. Remember, sleep has to become your first concern. BURNZEE

2011-01-03 09:28:00 | But what people don't remember is the countless times they actually wake up during the night. Also for people having trouble getting to sleep. Try ... lets just say, have a tug of war with Cyclops before you go to bed. ....

2011-01-03 09:47:00 | I never sleep well on sundays. I ended up watching alot of videos on the net. then i had to suffer and watch "Emmerdale" on tv2 till 5:30am. I finally got to sleep at around 6am and got up at 2pm. But you do not watch TV do you? Why not continue with net videos? BBC TV News maybe? Actually your sleep patterns and mine can be semi deduced by correlating data over some period of time.

2011-01-03 09:54:00 | Sundays is pretty much the only time i watch tv. If it helps, i listened to "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport (www.youtube.com)" by Rolf Harris for about 1 hour straight.
