1201396 2011-05-11 06:00:00 have an issue with MSOffice, seems to be mainly PP because Access opens as does Excel,Word

so thought I'd uninstall, this appears - "the feature you're trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable, enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package MAINSP3 . msp"

- did a search for this, not there, so downloaded MAINSP3 . msp but cant install it - message reads, "this update has already been applied or is in an update already applied" - this from control panel\add remove and Ccleaner

so maybe reinstall from the disk -there's no SetUp file that i can find in that C:\ folder - from C:\progfiles\MSOffice\OFFICE11\1033\Unpack . exe - this message -
message publisher cannot read (that path) be sure the file exists and is not in use etc

strangely the final file in that message is "packed01 . puz"not"unpack . exe"??

tried to install from the disk Setup file - message reads - the installation source for this product is not available, verify that the source exists and that you can access it

it's on the disk! what's wrong here? please, some advice

1201397 2011-05-11 06:29:00 Have you the original media?

Did you install from D:\ and then change the drive letter?

Is this Office 2007 and if so what version?

1201399 2011-05-11 06:39:00 If you put back in the office CD, open it from My Computer, run the setup file, it should ask to upgrade or repair Office, make sure all the options are selected, and run a repair. wainuitech (129)
1201400 2011-05-11 06:53:00 put it in, begins to unpack, stops, messages as above appear - i cant get any sense out of it! jayal (1291)
1201401 2011-05-11 07:16:00 If you had a USB drive/stick in during the original setup then it may have registered that the file on the CD/DVD is one further drive letter along.

Or vice-versa - if you're trying it now with a USB device hogging a drive letter you may again find that the mapping to the CD/DVD file remains out of sync.

Maybe.

Which was more or less my suspicion sort of to start with.

1201403 2011-05-11 08:53:00 it is assigned "D" in My Computer and actually begins to transfer files then a window opens with the aforementioned message - i have my suspicions re a virus but??? what to look for? jayal (1291)
1201404 2011-05-11 10:35:00 It highly unlikely a virus, its more to do with the fact the location of the original Install is now different to when it was first installed As explained here (support.microsoft.com) and here (www.nbtnet.newboundary.com).

What you may have to do is completely remove office using the Office removal tool (office.microsoft.com) and reinstall it, saving any pst file if you use outlook.

This error message can also happen if it were loaded in over a LAN from a server, or if it were pre loaded in by the OEM manufacture Eg: Dell, HP etc as a trial, then the full product key entered at a later date.

1201405 2011-05-11 11:09:00 wow! that looks promising, has all the symptoms covered - was thinking maybe a format & reinstall was going to be the only solution but you've made my day (night) - I'll have a go at it in the morning, Thanks very much Wainuitech jayal (1291)
