1202601 2011-05-16 23:47:00 This is the update to my previous thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz)

I sent in the faulty MB (GA-EP45-DS4P) to PB last week and just got back the Motherboard but this time it's a different Model - GA-EP45-DQ6; it looks obvious that it's a repaired unit rather than a new one. My original unit looks at least much newer than this!

Should I or should I not accept this repaired unit of a different Model?

You views, please.

10 v 6 sata ports!.....
I think any board that you get as replacement will be repaired or returned unit!....P45 is quite hard to come buy.....
It will be easy replacement, should even have to reactive O/S

From the original post -
I think this machine is about 3 years old Considering it was almost out of the manufactures warranty anyway, you wouldn't get a new board.
The only time they do that is if its new,or near new - (less than a month generally) - the warranty period on this replacement board will be carried on from the previous.

Meaning if the original board had 3 years (36 months) warranty and was replaced in month 34, then the new board will only have a two month warranty.

Took a closer look at this 'new' board, I notice that there are 4 x RJ45 ports at rear but the new IO Shield (back plate) has got only 1 x RJ45 opening, the other 3 will be covered up if I were to use this plate - although it's unlikely that I will ever use the others.

1202605 2011-05-17 07:41:00 I always send the back plate off with a RMA motherboard, that way you can expect to get the correct one for the replacement. Pretty sure they will send you one if you ask nicely. PENTIUM (426)
