1169385 2011-01-12 21:42:00 Does this mean we'll get cheaper DSL and\or bigger data allowances? Agent_24 (57)

I doubt it, but we *should* get much more consistent speeds. :p

1169388 2011-01-12 22:04:00 The article talks about entry-level plans offering 100GB/month - that sounds like total fantasy, as the companies would have all their premium customers effectively dropping down to this 'budget' account - not something they'll willingly offer. Paul.Cov (425)

1169391 2011-01-12 22:17:00 They have raised 5 million, but the article say they need 400 million to go ahead!

That is a lot of money to raise.

Will we get cheaper broadband or big caps ?

That's a tricky questions especially when you consider that fibre to the home has to be paid for by someone - the end user ?

Thirdly - if you took out all the movie downloads I wonder how big a cable we would need ?

1169392 2011-01-12 22:25:00 Just bigger data caps, basically, as theres still maintenance of the physical infrastructure which costs regardless of how freely data is available. Pricing *ought* to stay the same, but with the possibility of 10 -> 100x bigger data caps :)

They're going to run it at a loss at first, presuming that over time it'll more than pay for itself. Apparently the SCC was also done-so, only in the last year or two having broken even? Though I could be mistaken there ...
