2011-01-09 07:26:00 | I have a PS2 which can't read DVDs anymore and I was thinking of getting a HDD and copying and playing games from HDD instead, which wouldn't require the laser to work and also would speed up loading times (apparently) It would seem though that I would need to purchase the loader program on a pressed and official disc (not burned) This program appears to come on a DVD, which my PS2 can't read (can anyone say catch 22?) Is this the case or am I missing something? Would I be better off just getting a new laser?

2011-01-10 00:06:00 | Well it's about the only place I could find a laser for mine. The older type and the new slim ones are everywhere, but the ones in between.. can't seem to find them in many places. Do you know of a better place?

2011-01-10 01:32:00 | Well getting a laser from eBay is fairly easy I would have thought. To be honest I haven't even opened it to check for dust, though

2011-02-25 11:10:00 | I wonder if the problem might just be dust... inspection showed a LOT of buildup... I cleaned the lens which was quite dusty but it made no difference... possibly there is more dust underneath! Turns out my laser assembly is actually the KHS-400C, and not KHS-400R as the guide on eBay suggested.

2011-02-25 14:24:00 | www.modchipstore.com I have adjusted the DVD laser a number of times and got about 6 months more life out of a previously unusable machine, there are many different models and the direction to turn the pot to increase the laser current varies with different models, the biggest/best tip I can give is to mark the position of every laser pot you tweak with black marker so you can return it to the previous setting position. Since the machine is useless anyway you may as well try, CAUTION Do Not Look Into Laser
