1168205 2011-01-09 02:08:00 my flatmate has a car which has become home to many spiders.

the spiders have setup home in wing mirrors, and around the boot.

there is no sign of spiders inside the car, but the outside get a lot of spider web buildup in only a few days.

the car lives outside, washing it gets rid of them for only a few days.

any thoughts for a more long term solution?

1168206 2011-01-09 02:35:00 In the "good" old days, nicotine sulphate did the trick pretty quickly. The car did smell a bit like you had driven through a pipe smokers convention, but the spiders were history.
It was a pretty noxious brew, so it may not be available any more.

1168208 2011-01-09 02:54:00 They usually come out when it's dark. That's when they mend the broken web's. Patience & a can of spray will fix them. :D BobM (1138)

1168212 2011-01-09 09:14:00 I have that problem with electric wing mirrors. I bought a surface spray intended for cockroaches and other crawling insects, put a plastic tube on the nozzle and sprayed it into the back of the mirrors. One treatment lasts for months.

Cheers

1168213 2011-01-09 09:23:00 Fly Spray and watch them drop out of the side mirrors, creepy, sometimes really big ones. zqwerty (97)
1168214 2011-01-09 19:24:00 And they like to go on holiday as well. Picked one up in the wing mirror in Tauranga in 2009 car was parked outside, it ended up in Napier. It disappeared after a while probably starved as car is parked in a garage.
