1168662 2011-01-18 22:04:00 The interesting thing is we are producing more emission per head than China...

America produces the most per head, with Australia a close second, India being next to nothing (about 5 times less than us)...

Food for though.

Australia's emmissions are high because the majority of the countries electricity is produced from burning coal. And the Luddite Labour party is not about to change that - they are busy investigating whether the concept of clean coal - which is as much an oxymoron as dry water.
Australia has one of the largest resources of Uranium in the world, will they go nuclear - no the greenies oppose that - the use of Nuclear generated electricity could more than halve Australias carbon emmissions which the Labour/Greenie government keeps telling us are bad.
Of course Australia is not about to stop selling coal, which earns about 35% of the country's foreign exchange to those big polluters China and India, who only have a low pollution/head rate because they have been such concientious breeders for so long (That their populations are a form of polution) and so much of their population lives as low 3rd world standards. Australia is also selling both these countries that terrible pollutant Uranium, because they promised not to use it to make Nuclear weapons - they will use other sourced uranium for that purpose.
Both these countries, claim that they should not be required to cut their carbon emmissions until they have caught up to a comparable per capita level as the West. AND THEY WON"T
So any cuts that NZ or Australia makes will have absolutely no effect other than to give the governments of both countries a blody big slush fund for political pork barrelling.

All this Carbon Tax and emmisions trading is about money, unbelievable large amounts of it, and few politicians can resist the temptation to get their sticky little fingers on that, to feed their own agendas.

The Corruption of Science on Climate Change is also all about money - research funds are rationed, and the one way to get unlimited research funding, and the kudos that goes with it is to get on the Climate Change bandwagon, and the money will keep flowing so long as the research results keep giving the approved answer. Money corrupts - large amounts of money corrupt absolutely.

1168663 2011-01-19 19:33:00 Ahhh Wikipedia aye.

Well Wikipedia, whilst being useful, isn’t a source of indisputable knowledge, given that anybody can contribute there. Even those with agendas.

My figure was questioned.

I googled it and that was the first link. looked about right so I posted it.

Thanks for the worthless lecture that most people know :)

If these figures are correct, a 100% cut by NZ would have absoluely no effect, so why have all the Kiwi flat earth greenies got their knickers in a twist.

To be fair its about emissions "per person", NZ has a very small population so in principle should do its bit along with countries with large populations.

1168664 2011-01-19 20:15:00 If this year we get hardly any major floods world wide, will it make the major news shows ?

The ETS and carbon tax is just rubbish.

Even if you believed in man made global working and carbon emmiiions causing it, just keeping or slightly lowering our (western, developed countries) emmissions will not help as the developed countries 6 billion people will easily make up for that as they are buying cars and tvs like crazy.

MOST of the world's population will be wiped out if political leaders fail to agree a method of stopping current rates of global warming

An excellent result for the earth in general, The rest of nature will be rejoicing.

Not that "political leader" have any say in regards to whatever Mother Nature decides to do.

Professor Kevin Anderson, director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change, believes only around 10 per cent of the planet's population – around half a billion people – will survive if global temperatures rise by 4C.

His funding must be running out. Time to create a headline again....
