1169256 2011-01-13 01:34:00 Always remember Pride goeth before a fall.

To me, feeling pride and being proud are two different emotional states. Sometimes difficult to differentiate, and dictated by environment and circumstances.

However, it is fair comment that excessive pride may lead to a fall.

Many a bride, on her husband's pride, a pregnant widow stood.

I would find pride in perfection, have not found that yet.

It is mostly jest and part reality. We husbands do as we are told not because we are under the thumb ("under the thumb" is the mostly jest) but we do as we are told because we want to please (the reality part) and, for the most part, want to be good boys. I realise that it implies that us husbands don't have too much choice, but that is the fun part of the saying. It is not meant to be serious. We need to have a laugh.:D

I don't consider myself hard done by. In fact I know that in my choice I am very lucky.

The humour in that lot eludes me!

We do as we are told so as to make life tolerable.
