| 1203014 | 2011-05-18 03:40:00 | In my Win XP, the turn off and restart buttons have ceased to function. I have to turn off the computer manually. I looked at sys/config, but saw nothing that seemed to apply. Is there a tinyurl that would fix this? The only other change is that the screensaver works intermittently. Oliver. |

| 1203016 | 2011-05-18 04:38:00 | Start the computer in safe mode - keep tapping F8 on startup, select safe mode when the screen of options appear - once started, see if the options to shut down /restart work. If they do, then there is a software problem someplace. If they still dont work theres a possibility the Power Supply is not responding to the commands to shut down/restart from the OS. There may also be a motherboard problem not sending the shutdown signal to the PSU. BUT if you are holding in the Power Button to shut it down, that kind of rules out that last theory :) |
