1169030 2011-01-12 03:11:00 In the last week or so I have had 2 calls from different people (1 female, 1 male) wanting to "maintain" my computer. The first one was put off by "I am not interested", but the second one, which could well have been from Asia, when told I do my own maintenance wanted to know if I was a computer technician, and wanted me to switch my machine on. I said NO and hung up. Are these for real or are they trying to get access to my computer for nefarious purposes? Brucem (8688)
1169031 2011-01-12 03:13:00 It's a scam, there are several threads about it on here. It was also on the news a while back. Cato (6936)
1169032 2011-01-12 05:02:00 Yeah it's a load of crap, you should either tell them to bugger off or string them along with useless false information for a bit of entertainment :D Agent_24 (57)
1169033 2011-01-12 06:00:00 Ask them to repeat everything several times and also to yell real loud because the phone is a bit deaf.
Repeat until they start to cry.

1169034 2011-01-12 06:32:00 See how long you can keep them on the phone and see how much money and time they can waste on the phone call. Agent_24 (57)
1169035 2011-01-12 21:39:00 He wanted to know if you were a computer technician so he could know if his scam was going to work on you. Siobhan Keogh (16063)
1169036 2011-01-12 21:43:00 Hmm good point. So make sure you convey that you have no idea what you're doing and that you really need their help.

Then make sure you botch everything they ask you to do
