PPC macs came with a hardware test disc, see if you can get hold of one

Don't have the hardware test disc, and there's no memtest utility on the OS install DVD as far as I can see.

Neither of those appear to be bootable...

1204362 2011-05-23 09:19:00 Well that didn't work, came up with an error, according to posts on the Apple forum apparently AHT v1.2.6 does that, found a download for AHT v1.2.7 (which Apple hide from you for some reason) - exact same error... iTypical. Agent_24 (57)

So I take it the dvd is not an original that came with the computer, rather a full copy?

I've got an original retail DVD for OSX Tiger and that's it. When I booted from it I had no diagnostic or memtest option. I can install OSX and run some utilies like Disk Utility, Network Utility etc but as far as I can see that's it.

If there is some special key combination to access diagnostic tools on that DVD I do not know it

If any AHT disc was supposed to be with the Mac, I haven't got it.
