1204324 2011-05-23 01:39:00 Hi all

Some advice if anyone can help please.

Eldest son has a PS2 and I want connect it to the spare DVI port on
the Viewsonic 19" monitor connected to his PC.

Now I know I need a Composite Video - DVI convertor and a cable to convert the audio (RCA - mini-stereo?). Could also connect it to the VGA port and use the DVI for the PC.

Does anyone know where I might get such a beast? At a reasonable cost of course (at least until the money tree starts to produce in spring....)

Cheers in advance.....

1.If the PS2 has an option for HDMI (I don't thik so?) it could be connected to the DVI port via an adapter but there would be no sound.

2. A cheap Video capture device with analog input would theoretically allow you to do this as long as you had some software that allowed fullscreen viewing of the input - for example my old wintv 200 analog tv tuner did this using the tv software and I just selected the analog input with the remote.

If you get a different output cable for the PS2 you can get RGB but it's Sync-on-green which most monitors don't support (Usually only works with Sony ones, funny that)

If you want to convert the composite to VGA you will need some circuitry, not just a fancy cable, if you want to convert to DVI its even more complex, as you are going from analog to digital.

What you need is something like this: www.trademe.co.nz

Note, you can get them much cheaper on eBay.

1204328 2011-05-24 01:14:00 Thanks.

Might go for the last one ($54 on TradeMe). Will just have to look at the audio side of the setup now... (have some spare powered PC speakers I hope to use)
