2011-01-16 23:22:00 | I'm thinking of getting a new LCD TV to replace the CRT TV in the bedroom. Must have "Freeview" built in. Don't need Sat. dish because my location is in Hutt Valley and have no problem receiving terrestrial transmissions. DSE are advertising some under their own label at sensible prices. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

2011-01-16 23:26:00 | I personally wouldn't touch one, with the price of a decent brand TV (eg sony) these days being reasonably affordable. | wratterus (105) | |
2011-01-16 23:28:00 | If its a Proview forget it. The last DSE monitor I brought (it wasnt a TV tho), died within 2 yrs (the inverter whatever its called died). I had to turn it on 5-10 times, so it would turn on. In the end, it went in the bin | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2011-01-16 23:54:00 | two or three years ago I bought a small TV for my bedroom for $99 from Dick Smith. Lasted for just over a year. At that price I did not expect it to last forever. I would be inclined to google for reviews about a specific make and model that you are interested in. This way you can get honest opinions from disatisfied or satisfied customers. I remember seeing a TV being advertised by Harvey Norman at a bargain price. I read reviews on that make and model and soon realised why it was being sold at such a cheap price.

(I've repaired LCD monitors which did the same thing) Would have likely taken less than $15 worth of new capacitors and an hour of time to repair :( |
