1203667 2011-05-21 23:11:00 Do you use all this power you have developed - I would say not.

Doing your day to day work It would make next to no difference or are you just trying to brag / show off.

Nothing wrong with Over Clocking a PC, just not everyone needs or wants to.
Why bother with this thread then WT?....if its just to show off, why you bothering to read
The OC is not 24/7, just when gaming or encoding AND yes, it does use all that power! The difference between your stock kentifield and my SB clocked is about 2:1, and almost 3:1 when clocked, thats quite a saving in time!

More than likely the same reason you are - to see what others have written.
If you bothered to read from the start and took it in, you will also see the first nine replies every one has stock systems as to what ever their spec's may be.

Seems not to many people (currently answered) Over Clock.

Showing off can mean a person needs some sort of comfort because they feel they need to better than anyone else.

Not talking about gaming or encoding, lets say you are working on a spreadsheet, or writing out a word document - you're telling me that your OC PC will do the tasks faster -

1203673 2011-05-22 00:54:00 Of course talking about it is showing off! Yes your OC is nice for performance gains but it's a bit sad sitting admiring it yourself and not skiting. SKITE SKITE. Nothing wrong with that either, I just can't be bothered OC mine........had a go once with the GPU. pctek (84)
1203674 2011-05-22 02:34:00 If I was to overclock anything now it would be my gpu, but I havent needed to yet gaming at 1080p. Unless I was doing massive encoding jobs then I don't see a reason to overclock on my current setup. If it stops running games at max settings I'll upgrade.

Watercooling was fun and at times scary but if I'm not overclocking it's not worth the hassle. I have recently got a NZXT Whisper and that combined with stock fans is damn near silent so I'm happy.

1203675 2011-05-22 05:01:00 I was crazy about OCing at one stage, OCed my ancient core 2 dual to 4ghz and my ancient ddr2 memories to 950mhz, it did boost the frame rate by a significant and noticeable amount and I used to tell everybody about it.. :P yup, it somehow made me feel proud knwing that I can push my hardware harder than others.... all worked well until I bought a secondary graphics card n the PSU cnt handle 2 gpus, so had to drop bck to all stock speed.....

If you look at some of the new CPUs these days they are so powerful and efficient straight out of the box, it will handle anything a everyday user will be able to throw at it with 15 of its 20 arms tied down....they even self overclock (not fair much for the old schooled OCers much?? :P)

I agree with hueybot3000, slap a after market cooler on your gpu n have some fun :D

Have you ever seen a spreadsheet take over 5 min to calculate?..Anyway, I can be bothered with you WT.....Seems, you only came into this thread to poo poo overclocking!...

FYI, my system usually runs stock, I use preset settings to overclock on the fly for encoding and gaming, and yes I see huge benefits in it...
If you want to think its all about showing off fine!
